Solar in Henderson, NV typically costs $17,000–$20,000 for a 6–7 kW system (Nevada's sales-tax exemption is already applied; the 30% federal credit ended Dec 31, 2025) and pays back in roughly 9–12 years for a cash purchase — though NV Energy's rising rates keep pulling that number down. Henderson sits in the same NV Energy service territory as Las Vegas, so residents qualify for identical net metering credits at 75% of retail. Most 5–7 kW systems offset the bulk of a household's annual electricity use.

Henderson is one of the fastest-growing cities in Nevada, and its residential solar market is booming alongside that growth. As an NV Energy customer, Henderson homeowners face the same electricity rate structure as Las Vegas — currently averaging $0.125 per kilowatt-hour — and benefit from the same net metering program, the same property tax exemption, and the same sales tax exemption on solar equipment. The combination of abundant sunshine, rising utility rates, and strong incentives makes Henderson an excellent market for solar, with most homeowners saving money against their current NV Energy bill.

Henderson's suburban neighborhoods — from Green Valley and Anthem to Inspirada and Seven Hills — are well-suited to rooftop solar. Newer construction in these areas typically features south- or west-facing roof planes with minimal shading, which maximizes solar production. A properly designed system for the average Henderson home (typically 5 to 7 kW) will cover most or all of the household's electricity needs year-round, with NV Energy net metering credits banking excess summer production to offset winter bills. Most Henderson homeowners see a full payback in roughly 9 to 12 years for a cash purchase now that the 30% federal credit has ended — though NV Energy's rising rates keep pulling that number down — followed by years of essentially free electricity.

Nevada Solar Incentives for Henderson Homeowners

Federal Tax Credit — Expired Dec 31, 2025 for Purchases

The 30% federal solar tax credit ended December 31, 2025 for systems you buy with cash or a loan. A leased or PPA (third-party-owned) system may still capture a federal incentive through the end of 2027. For Henderson homeowners who buy, the real value now comes from Nevada's sales-tax and property-tax exemptions, net metering at 75% of retail, and locking in your own generation cost against rising NV Energy rates.

NV Energy Net Metering

Henderson is fully within NV Energy territory. Your excess solar production earns credits at 75% of the retail rate, applied automatically to future bills. Proper system sizing ensures you maximize these credits rather than leaving money on the table.

Nevada Property Tax Exemption

Nevada law (NRS 361.079) protects Henderson solar owners from increased property taxes due to solar. The added value your system brings to your home is fully exempt from property tax assessment.

Nevada Sales Tax Exemption

All solar equipment purchased in Nevada is exempt from the state sales tax under NRS 374.2911 — an 8.375% savings applied at purchase. Henderson homeowners see this benefit automatically, with no application required.

"Daniel is very good at his job. Makes you feel as a valued customer. He was very helpful through our nearly 3 month solar panel install project. He was proactive throughout the project always letting us know what to expect in the next step and was quick to respond to our questions. The SunSolar Solutions crew that we dealt with from the installers, their inspector, and Angel, the last tech who came through to finish up the project were all very polite, informative, and professional. Would recommend them when considering solar panels."

"What a great experience with Daniel at Sunder Energy. We were actually going to go with another solar company, but when Daniel showed up, he pitched us his services. He walked us through the different products and which solar company would be installing our equipment. Daniel was with us every step of the way. Even when we had some issues with the installation of the equipment, Daniel made the calls to have the technicians come back and fix everything. Even when he was out of country, Daniel always returned our calls and text messages in a timely manner. Truly responsive! A few days after the installation, he even stopped by and had us load solar apps on our devices and walked us through what to expect. Although we were nervous in the beginning, Daniel made the whole experience worthwhile. Totally awesome customer service! If you're looking into solar, look no further. Give Daniel a call — you won't regret it!"

"This review is long overdue but I am glad we are finally getting to rave about how amazing our experience with Daniel and Sunsolar has been. I was EXTREMELY skeptical about the whole solar idea since my husband and I had such a horrible interaction with another solar company. A few weeks later Daniel knocked on our door. He politely asked if he could return the next day with a more in-depth proposal and if we were still not interested, he would 'kick rocks'. The following day he showed up on time, fully explained every detail, and even I, the self-proclaimed queen of skepticism, couldn't turn down the offer. A HUGE plus is that he didn't try to over-sell us more equipment than we needed. From start to finish the project took less than a month — not at all what we expected. From our interactions with Daniel down to every employee we spoke with, we were 100% impressed. We are now extremely happy solar owners and would highly recommend them to anyone on the fence about solar."

⚠️ 2026 update on the federal tax credit

The 30% federal residential solar tax credit (Section 25D) expired on December 31, 2025 for systems you buy with cash or a loan. Cost and savings figures on this page that assume that credit may be out of date. Two things still apply: Nevada's sales-tax and property-tax exemptions and NV Energy net metering, and systems on a lease or PPA may still qualify for a federal incentive through the end of 2027. For numbers that reflect today's incentives, book a free review and talk to a tax professional about your situation.

Solar FAQs — Henderson, NV

How much does solar cost in Henderson, NV?
Henderson solar costs are nearly identical to Las Vegas — approximately $2.85 per watt before incentives. A 6–7 kW system runs $17,000–$20,000, with Nevada's sales-tax exemption already applied; the 30% federal credit ended Dec 31, 2025, so there's no further reduction for a cash or loan purchase. $0 down financing means many Henderson homeowners start saving from their very first month with no out-of-pocket cost.
Is solar worth it in Henderson, Nevada?
Absolutely. Henderson's climate is identical to Las Vegas — 290+ sunny days, intense summer sun, and high air conditioning usage that drives energy bills up. With NV Energy rates at $0.125/kWh and rising, solar pays back in roughly 9–12 years for a cash purchase now that the 30% federal credit has ended — though those rising rates keep pulling that number down — and delivers $51,000+ in lifetime savings for most households.
Does Henderson use NV Energy?
Yes. Henderson is served entirely by NV Energy, the same utility as Las Vegas and North Las Vegas. This means Henderson solar customers qualify for NV Energy's net metering program, which credits excess solar production at 75% of the retail rate against future utility bills.
What solar incentives are available to Henderson homeowners?
The 30% federal Investment Tax Credit ended December 31, 2025 for systems you buy — only leased or PPA systems may still capture a federal incentive through 2027. Henderson residents who buy still qualify for: (1) NV Energy net metering at 75% retail rate, locked for 20 years, (2) Nevada's property tax exemption on solar value, and (3) Nevada's sales tax exemption on solar equipment — an immediate 8.375% off your hardware at purchase.
Do solar panels increase home value in Henderson?
Yes — solar adds approximately 3–4% to home value. In Henderson, where median home prices have risen significantly, that can translate to $15,000–$30,000 in added value. And Nevada's property tax exemption means that added value doesn't increase your annual tax bill.
How do I find a good solar company in Henderson?
Look for an independent advisor — not a sales rep locked into one installer. Daniel Hadobas is a Henderson and Las Vegas area solar specialist with 174 five-star Google reviews. He works with multiple top-rated, NABCEP-certified installers to get you the best combination of equipment, warranty, and financing for your specific home.
